ABOUT ELSEWHERE

A card can travel almost anywhere. And sometimes, it can take you elsewhere.

There is something romantic and increasingly nostalgic about sending a card from somewhere and finding one waiting at home. A postcard carries an image, a place, a few words and the trace of another person’s moment. However small, it can interrupt the everyday and briefly take us somewhere else.

The archive emerged out of the artist-run space ENDSAFTER ↗ and is curated by iBulla ↗ as an ongoing collection of such moments. Artists and contributors are invited to create a postcard and accompany it with a Registry Note. Together, the cards form editions that connect individual works through a shared format and system of registration.

Postcards are objects surrounded by formats, postal rules, country codes and international standards, yet what they carry is deeply personal. They can cross borders, change hands, disappear into drawers or remain precious for decades.

ELSEWHERE ARCHIVE collects these fragments without trying to fix their meaning. It is an archive of images, notes, memories and places, real, imagined or somewhere in between.

The hope is simple: that the collection keeps growing, that new editions bring new entries, and above all, that the cards leave the archive again, sent to friends, strangers and lovers of art across the world.

ELSEWHERE ARCHIVE begins with the postcard: a small object made to travel.
